How To Custom Order

Most of the costumes in the cosplay section of the site started as commissions. Custom costumes are often not expensive, just a matter of choosing the right materials, accessories and basic starting patterns. Moon Costumes can create recognizable character representations in only a few weeks.

To do a commission, fill out the following form:

  • Name:
  • Email:
  • Upload as many pictures as possible of the character you want.
  • Date needed by: * setting the date a week before you absolutely need it is a good idea
  • Quality level: Standard costumes use inexpensive fabrics (cotton, satin), and only have essential detailing. Deluxe costumes use more expensive fabrics like bleather, spandex or silk, and have a much greater attention to detail.
  • Description of details that are important to you:
  • Your height? inches Your weight? pounds
  • You will eventually need all of the measurements from the guide below, you can include them in your quote request, or wait to hear back from us first.
  • If you are happy with our quote, we will invoice you. Invoice must be paid in full before work begins.

We will start working as soon as we get the payment and your measurements. The average turnaround time is 7 to 10 business days, however some can take several weeks. Add another 5 business days for shipping, you normally get you item 12 to 15 business days after the payment clears. A better timing estimate is possible after we get pictures and an understanding of the quality/detail level required.

Top Measurements

Measure a shirt with a collar that fits you well. Lay the collar flat, and measure from the center of the collar button to the far end of the button hole. The measurement in inches is your collar size. (Alternatively, measure around the base of your neck.)

Chest (Men's)
With arms relaxed at your sides, measure around your chest at the armpits, over the highest part of your chest and shoulder blades, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Bend your elbow 90 degrees and place your hand on your hip. Hold the tape at the center back of your neck. Measure across your shoulder to your elbow, and down to your wrist. The total length in inches is your sleeve length.

Measure around your chest including the fullest part of your arms at the highest point of your shoulder blades, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. If this measurement is 7 or more inches larger than your chest measurement, order the next larger size sportcoat to avoid binding in the upper arm and shoulder area.

Bust (Women's)
If possible, get a friend to help. With arms relaxed at your sides, measure the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Stand in stocking feet with your feet slightly apart and your back to a wall. Measure from the floor to the top of your head.

Bottom Measurements

Measure around your waist, in your underwear, at the point where your trousers would normally ride. Keep one finger between the tape and your body.

Stand with your heels together, and measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Select a pair of your best-fitting pants of a similar material. Measure from the crotch intersection to the bottom. The number of inches, to the nearest half-inch, is the inseam length.

Regular, Short, or Long Rise?
Rise is the distance from your front waist to your back waist by way of your crotch. Choose:

  • Choose Long Rise if you are 6'1" or taller, high-waisted, or want more "depth."
  • Choose Short Rise if you are 5'7" or under
