Halloween isn’t the only time of the year to wear a costume.

No one is satisfied being themselves all the time.  And Halloween isn't the only time of year that you can wear a great costume.  If you're one of those people who's a little bit adventurous (or you wish you were), you'll love cosplay!

Cosplay is short for costume play.  Cosplayers enjoy dressing up as various types of characters for different events.  While there are many opportunities for cosplay, one of the most popular ways to display your creative (and eccentric) side is by attending cosplay conventions.

Cosplay Conventions

Dressing up in a
costume that represents a favorite video game or anime character is all the norm when you attend a cosplay convention.  Great conventions like WonderCon in Anaheim, California and MangaNext in East Rutherford, New Jersey are where the anime fans flock to participate in all kinds of events as well as dress as some of their favorite characters.  And as far as which characters are good for cosplay conventions...the rule is, there are no rules!

A Great Costume

Whether you're planning on attending your very first cosplay event, or you're a seasoned pro, it's always good to evaluate (or re-evaluate) your costume to be sure it's the best.  One of the most important things to remember is that
details matter!  Cosplay is an art form, and those who love it, know how important it is to do it right.  The best way to begin your costume planning is to study your character.  Take in every possible detail about their clothing.  The best cosplayers even learn how to impersonate their character, right down to their speech and way of walking.
