Who would’ve thought that the standout adult comedy of the year would be headlined by a cute and fluffy, yet trash talking stuffed Teddy bear? The 2012 summer blockbuster Ted is probably one of the first adult comedies to feature a childhood-like character since the 1986 film Howard the Duck. The film is based on the fictional story line of a boyhood granted wish good bad.
In the movie, Wahlberg’s character wishes so hard as lonely boy that his Teddy Bear will come to life. The fantastical result is the crass and risqué Ted who really just won’t go away. Be careful what you wish for, right?
The 2012 summer release was written and directed by Seth McFarlane who is known worldwide for his success with Family Guy, as originally broadcasted on the Fox network and several other hit adult cartoon series.
Creating the film, which also stars A-Listers Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis alongside the deceivingly adorable little ball of fluff McFarlane certainly took some risks and pushed some boundaries, but it’s clear that it was well worth it. The jury is out and fans simply love Ted.
