You’ve had your fix of the classic comic, the 2011 blockbuster action film, and perhaps you’ve even tried your hand at emanating one of your favorite Avenger’s heroes through cosplay, but have you ever been able to bid on an official one-of-a-kind piece of Avenger’s history? Thanks to some of the same awesome crew members heading up the next Chicago Comic Con event, some very lucky fans were recently able to. The very first Avenger Auction ever took place just last month.
The auction, which was officially organized by Profiles in History and Marvel Entertainment, took place on April 14th at the Chicago Comic Con convention center. True fans and serious collectors were able to bid on over 220 amazing lots including some historic costumes, props and vehicles from the hit 2011 Captain America First Avenger film! Talk about the opportunity of a lifetime. The items that went up for bidding at last month’s auction will without question “go down in history” as some of the most prized Hollywood archives.
One of the most coveted lots up for grabs was the three-piece Captain America custom suit made of ballistic nylon with rubberized backing. Other intriguing lots included Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell’s) hero pub scene red crêpe dress, a silver prototype hero shield, a full-scale “Captain America” motorcycle, props such as flamethrowers, machine guns, assault rifles, grenades and more.
Other official costumes featured at the auction included the hero costume with shield worn in the Captain America field by Chris Evans “Steve Rogers/Captain America” and the hero black leather “SS” costume worn by Hugo Weaving “Johann Schmidt/Red Skull.”
If you missed your chance to score some of the official gear, don’t worry! Moon Costumes (much more affordable) super hero gear waiting for you!
