Monday, September 19, 2011The time is just about here for what some call one of the most exciting American costume events of the year. New York Comic Con will take place in just 24 days (18 hours, 19 minutes, and 43 seconds to be exact)!
From October 13th through October 16th, 2011 New York Comic Con and the New York Anime Festival will be held simultaneously at the Javits Convention Center. The convention will include many events for fans to enjoy including daily costume contests.
One and all are invited to strut their stuff throughout the convention center for a chance to win a daily prize. No pre-registration is necessary to the NYCC’s Costume Contests. Those who want to enter are simply asked to stop by the stage a half hour before each contest. Don’t delay, however. Only the first 30 fans will take the stage and be entered into each competition. Participants will be chosen on a first come first served basis. The NYCC Costume Contests will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the convention.
One Costume contest will be held specifically for children under 12 years of age. No child will go home empty handed! Each child in the Kids Costume Contest will receive a certificate of participation while some will win special prizes if judged to be among the top contestants by judges and audience members.
Cosplay looks inspired by movies, anime, games, and anything else “geeky” you can think of are allowed. In addition to the week’s contests, cosplayers will also have a chance to dress up at the NYCC Masquerade at which a separate costume will be held for experienced contestants.
