This past Monday we reported on a British actor who is feeling great about his new costume for the up and coming new Superman film which is scheduled to be released in 2013. We also just got word this week about another British actor who will be sporting an updated superhero costume in an upcoming film.
Actor Christian Bale is currently filming his third appearance as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. The Caped Crusader will be playing alongside Tom Hardy who will be playing the evil villain Bane.
Paparazzi pictures of the new Batman costume have people talking. Reelzchannel.com feels that the costume looks like “something out of The Road Warrior.” Fans can’t wait to get a closer look at Batman’s new “get-up,” and rumor has it that several amateur photographers are even working on snapping pictures around the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based set.
What we do know so far is that during the filming, Bale wears a full facial headpiece, while Hardy also wears a mask on-set. The masks are said to be so form-fitting that the actors needed to find alternative ways of communicating, as it has been tough for them to understand each other under their facial prosthetic.
Hardy told Total Film magazine, “Anything you put something on your face you’re going to adopt a personality and a physicality that has nothing to do with acting. The only downside is you can’t hear a word anyone is saying [in these particular masks]….” The two actors have reportedly been using hand signals such as giving the thumbs up and winking to communicate while in costume.
The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released in July of 2012.
