The National Costumers Association (NCA) has been a part of the costuming industry for over 80 years. Part of their mission is to “encourage and promote a greater and more diversified use of costumes in all fields of human activity,” sometimes costume enthusiasts everywhere can appreciate. Those who like to dress up or dress other’s up usually report that they’d like to get the chance to do so more often!
If you’re in the Louisville, KY area or within a driving distance, you’ll want to try to make it out to the National Costumer’s Association Mini Con 2011 which takes place from July 15-17th. At this event, you’ll have the chance to meet up with fellow costumers and costume enthusiasts.
A very cost efficient way for costumers to enjoy their weekend; this event will include 5 meals as well as many hands on educational sessions all for one registration fee. Mini con will kick off with dinner and a magic Show at Caufields from 7pm to 10pm on Friday July 15th.
Interesting classes such as “Using Non-Traditional Materials for Costume Purposes” and “Build-a-Hat” will be offered during the weekend. There will be ample opportunities for business networking and socializing with fellow cosplay and costumer enthusiasts.
Registration for Mini Con is $159 per person for members not including hotel fees. Special accommodations have been arranged for early registries at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Louisville, KY at a room rate of $99 per night. If you are a costumer cosplay lover who is interested in attending Mini Con, you can find more information at the Costumers Mini Con registration page.
