The original Renaissance faire, The Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Irwindale, CA packs up their tents for the year on May 22nd, but Corona, CA hosts the Koroneburg European Old World Festival until June 19th. The setting: the fictitious estate of the Baron Heinrich Von Lauffer in the period of 1450-1600, located along the Rhine river (aka Santa Ana River) between Mainz and Strasbourg. They’ll have a Memorial Day Service on May 30 at noon, (Veterans and active military with ID ½ price) and on Saturday May 28 & June 18 they’ll be open until 9:00pm --experience the village after dark!
The Iowa Renaissance Festival and Gathering o' Celts happens from May 28-30, in Middle Amana Park (Medici Grove) Amana Colonies, IA. And you can stay at the Canterbury Inn and have a Renaissance weddings too.
The Virginia Renaissance Faire allows patrons to come in Renaissance costume, and they can even carry costume weapons! (Peace-tied, of course) The setting is the New World in Elizabethan times. Sir Francis Drake, Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Martin Frobisher, and of course, Queen Elizabeth all make their appearances.
In the first weekend of June, there are more Faires and Festivals to choose from.
•Midsummer Renaissance Faire in Lehighton, Pennsylvania – Welcomes you to the town of Rostand during its annual festival of the Fete de Fache Poulet through June 13.
•Robin in the Hood Medieval Festival - Elmira, Ontario, Canada – This two day event educates people about life in the middle ages.
•Siouxland Renaissance Festival - Sioux Falls, South Dakota welcomes you to Shrewsbury, England 1575...the 17th year of Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
•Three Barons Renaissance Fair - Anchorage, Alaska – Join the Three Barons in the revelry and merriment of their Realm during the first two weekends of June.
