April Con Variety

Con-tainment at Green Tentacles.com has a nice sampling of cons coming up this month that should suit just about every flavor of fandom. If you click on the words “Extended Forecast” on their map, you should see a bunch of smartly dressed avatars depicting the amount of variety available across the U.S. for the next month.

April 8 – 10: Odyssey Con in Madison, WI (Odd Con for short) is a general interest Science Fiction and Fantasy convention featuring literary guests, panel discussions, demonstrations, film reviews, art work, and much more.

April 15th-17th:

  • JordanCon in Atlanta, GA is a fantasy literature convention which features four tracks of simultaneous programming, a Dealers Hall, and charity events benefiting the Mayo Clinic.

  • Oklahoma Steampunk Exposition in Oklahoma City, OK will have, according to Containment, “cosplay, costumes, doctor who, fantasy, roleplaying game, science fiction, space western, steampunk, tea party, victoriana”. Yup! That about sums up the world of Steampunk!

  • Marmalade Dog in Kalamazoo, Michigan will have role-playing games, collectible card games, board games, miniature war games and a variety of other events.

From April 15 – 28th is the two-week long Philadelphia Science Festival in Philadelphia, PA. That’s a lot of science-flavored geek fun!

Apr 22nd-24th: Anime Punch in Columbus, Ohio, declare proudly on their webpage: “Our mission is clear: unite fandom, study animation, party hard, change the world.” That’s not asking too much from a weekend, is it? Aside from the Steampunk Expo, they’re the only ones with cosplay.

Apr 28th-May 1st: World Horror Convention in Austin, TX doesn’t seem to really mention dressing in costume, but we’ve got horror costumes if you want to try!

Of course, Anime Punch isn’t the only anime con happening in April, as you saw in our previous post. You can find all that info at AnimeCons.com!
