From Holiday Insights.com’s Bizarre and Unique Holidays, we’ve chosen a few that come up in the next couple of weeks for your consideration:
Today, March 11th gives two reasons to celebrate: Johnny Appleseed Day and Worship of Tools Day.
Johnny Appleseed Day honors one of America's great legends, a real man who, as he moved west across the continent, planted and sold apple trees along the way. Celebrate today with fresh apples for snacks, and some applesauce or apple pie for dessert. And, make plans to plant an apple tree while dressed in an apple costume, or something apple-related.
Worship of Tools day hardly needs a separate celebration. Men already worship their tools daily, considering them natural extensions of their bodies.
Next weekend you can celebrate Poultry Day on the 19th and Extraterrestrial Abductions Day on the 20th.
Poultry Day celebrates chicken, turkey and other birds commonly consumed by humans. Why not celebrate them?
Chicken and turkey are lower in fat and cholesterol than other meats, making them better for you. Plus, they provide nutrient-rich eggs! So celebrate Poultry Day with eggs for breakfast, a chicken sandwich for lunch, and barbecue chicken for dinner. Don't forget to the chicken fingers! If you don’t think chickens have fingers, check out these chicken costumes. (We’ve got turkey costumes, too, if you prefer.)
Extraterrestrial Abductions Day is a day to spend reading and watching Sci-Fi. Wear an alien costume or dress as your personal favorite extra terrestrial. A list of the 50 most famous aliens includes Superman, Spock, Dr. Who, Ford Prefect, Mork, the cast of TV’s 3rd Rock from the Sun and characters from the Men in Black films.
