Cons to End February

If you’re on America’s East Coast, or even in the South, there’s a good chance that there’s a convention near you this last weekend of February. If you’re into anime and cosplay, you’ve got a choice between Tsukino-Con

In Victoria, BC on Feb 25, KitsuneKon in Appleton, WI for the weekend of Feb 25 – 27, and Sukoshicon in Auburn, AL on the 26th only.

For everyone else, there’s the Fire & Ice Gaming Con also in WI but in Manitowoc, and the Vulcan Events Sci-Fi Convention in Tampa, FL, as well as Mysticon Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy con, all weekend in Roanoke, Virginia.

You might not expect a gaming convention to encourage costumes, but at Fire & Ice, they’re having their 6th annual costume contest. They invite all players to come to the con dressed as a character from their favorite book, movie or game Whether you're a Gangster, Wizard or Swashbuckling Pirate, characters of all genres will be judged on attention to detail, originality/accuracy and, most importantly, who's the audience favorite. “So get started on creating your theatrical masterpiece to WOW your fellow gamers with. Or just dust off a favorite costume from the past to help add an exotic atmosphere to the con on Saturday. After all....what could be more entertaining than seeing a Viking, a Droid and a Punk Vampire playing a game of Battlestar Galactica!”

Vulcan Events will be having a few costuming workshops, a costume contest and their Mardi Gras Dance on Saturday night encourages guests to “show us your ridges!”

And Mysticon will have LARPS, and a Masquerade Competition with a special division for kids costumes.

So do your costumes and get to a con!
