Fresh Year of Anime Cons

Anime fans don’t have to wait long for 2011 to bring them some cons to attend and Cosplay to…well…play! There are four this upcoming weekend, January 7 – 9, alone.

In L.A., the Airport Marriott will play host to Anime Los Angeles. Anime Los Angeles is a medium-sized fan-friendly convention -- in the winter, "on the other side of the year." All of the other anime conventions in California either have fewer than 2,000 attendees, or have more than 10,000 members.

That’s a big gap, and they fill it by being the the only one in the middle. They’ll have Cosplay Chess, Cosplay Gatherings, Hall Cosplay and a Masquerade.

In the Northern end of California, you’ll find Sac-Anime at Sacramento’s Radisson Hotel. They’re having a Masquerade, a J-Fashion Runway show and Hall Cosplay.

Ever so slightly to the East of Cali, Taiyou Con is taking place in Mesa, Arizona at the Hilton Phoenix East. Lots of Lolita fashion and maid café action will be going on, as well as a Con-nection Dating Game or two, Cosplay as a Business, Cosplay Chess, Cosplay Coliseum, and a Cosplay Café.

And last but certainly not least, Ichibancon will be happening in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Marriott Executive Park. Along with tons of fun events to attend, a dealers room, video showings, an artist alley, a big video and tabletop game room, an awesome rave, plenty of good panels, there will also be a Saturday night Cosplay contest you won’t want to miss!

The links and info are listed below, and we’ve created a montage of mascots for you to enjoy too!
