More Cause for Cosplay

There are four events for lovers of anime and video games going on across the country this weekend. All give you some reason to dress up in costume and enjoy the adventure of a con!

AniMix - An anime and video game con taking place in Killeen, Texas, July 17-19, 2009. One of their events is the AniMix & Match, AniMix's very first dating show. “Looking for love in all the wrong places? Looking for the geek or fanboy/fangirl of your dreams? On Friday three men will compete to win the heart of a lucky woman and on Saturday, three women will compete to win the heart of a lucky man.” Sounds fun, huh?

NatsuCon is happening July 17-19, 2009 in Bridgeton, Missouri. Their interesting twist on cosplay is their Anime Gong Show—“Part Game Show, part Talent Show - all awesome! Prizes will be given to those who score highest… But bad contestants will be gonged off the stage!

Otakon will be taking over the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland July 17-19, 2009. They are “the convention of the otaku generation: to celebrate all anime, manga, and all facets of Asian pop culture”. Their Masquerade is intended for cosplayers –those who like to include performance art before being judged. For those who want to have only their costumes judged, but don’t want to perform a skit they have a Hall Costume Contest.

Ancient City Con in Jacksonville, Florida July 18-19, 2009, you’ll find the "Northeast Florida convention for fans of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Anime, Comics, Collectibles and Gaming". Though they don’t have cosplay, skits, or karaoke, they do give attendees a chance to show off their costumes for prizes and fame. Try some of our Sci-Fi costumes for a change!
