If you weren’t able to enjoy some long weekend cosplay fun, or perhaps you just didn’t get enough, here are some more places across the North American continent to show off your cosplay costume. Of course all of them have cosplay events, so your decision likely depends on geographic desirability.
Tokyo in Tulsa – in Tulsa, Oklahoma is happening July 10-12. It’ll cost you $40 at the door for the entire weekend or $20 for a day pass. They also offer their special Sakura Club membership, which includes registration for the entire weekend, a handsome messenger bag full of swag and access to ALL Tokyo In Tulsa events without additional cost, including the guest banquet. They will also be hosting a private autograph session with all of the guests for Sakura Club members only. Membership costs only $150 per person and are limited, so don’t delay.
El Paso Anime Con at the University of Texas El Paso is going on July 11-12, 2009 it’s only $10 until July 9th. Their website reminds potential attendees that it will be hot and perhaps humid if it rains, and since there are no vendors this year, you’ll want to bring your own water and snacks. You can make it part of your costume —what’s your character’s favorite food?
Northern Anime Festival at Durham College, UOIT Oshawa Campus is on July 11-12, 2009 in Oshawa, Ontario, (that’s in Canada) will cost $30 for the weekend; $25 for Saturday only or $15 for Sunday only. (But that’s probably Canadian Dollars, so multiply it by .86 to get the US equivalent.)
Yasumicon at Florida International University, South Campus in Miami, Florida is July 11-12, 2009 and it’s FREE. They’re in their seventh year, and this year’s theme is "Cyber Punk”, so you can expect some great music.
